Our technology

The BactiQuant technology is based on the direct measure of a naturally occurring enzyme activity, of a predominantly bacterial origin, using a fluorescence-labelled enzyme substrate. The reaction is a simple one-step reaction and occurs spontaneously in-situ. The enzyme reaction releases a soluble fluorophore which is extracted and quantified using fluorometry. The fluorescence signal is stabile and increases linearly with reaction time. The fluorescence signal is directly proportional to the total content of bacterial bioburden.

The BactiQuant technology can be applied to all water types, including industrial wastewater, potable water, saline water, and purified water in the pharmaceutical industry. The sensitivity range encompasses bacterial levels lower than 10 cfu/ml up to extremely complex water samples with bacterial contents in the 106+ range. The analysis includes planktonic, free-living bacteria, and adherent or sessile bacteria associated with particles and biofilm sloughing.
